There are many associations that have the same goals as Build Local Communities. I have asked them to send me a paragraph about their goals, how you can help, and a link to their website. I hope you have time to investigate and support them, if appropriate.

I have asked these organizations to provide me with their info.

Assemble Vancouver - determine municipal issues and recommend solutions

Citizens’ assemblies will restore and sustain a more democratic city and ensure decisions are made in an evidence and science-based way. This process will build community and provide a hands-on intro to assemblies as a democratic tool. If you want more information or get on the list for assembly training, email [email protected]. A website is in the works, but this is a very new campaign. To get involved, please reach out with your enthusiasm and skills!

Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment

CAPE is a national organization of physicians and other health professionals working at the intersection of health, justice, and the environment. Our BC regional committee works to raise awareness about the health impacts of fossil fuels, pollution, and climate change, and to promote healthier policies in our province. In the past year, we've organized public events, met with elected officials, been featured in many media pieces, and partnered with other grassroots groups to highlight the health risks of continued reliance on fossil fuels.

Health professionals can get involved by signing up at https://cape.ca/subscribe/ or by sending me an email at [email protected]

Dogwood

Dogwood builds people power to fight for climate justice, Indigenous rights and a healthy democracy. Right now, we're focused on stopping the PRGT pipeline and Ksi Lisims LNG terminal, ending fracking and powering our communities with clean electricity rather than dirty gas. By harnessing the power of everyday people, we can stand up to billionaires and shortsighted politicians, and build a province where everyone can thrive. Join us at dogwoodbc.ca

Frack Free BC

Frack Free BC is an alliance of NGOs, grassroots groups, and individuals who are organizing in their communities to build pressure on the provincial government to end fracking. Get involved at frackfreebc.ca or by emailing [email protected]
