Joy and Optimism

The purpose of Build Local Communities is to give the citizens of Vancouver joy and optimism. When we have a voice at City Hall, we can direct the development of our neighbourhoods so all will benefit.

We have the power of private citizens to make our neighbourhoods better and we don’t have to wait on the City. Here are ways we can build our neighbourhoods into communities.

  • The City accepts recycling at recycle depots around the city but does not provide curbside pickup for all items. We can set up weekly Pop-up Recycling Stations to collect plastic bags, styrofoam, light bulbs, batteries, small appliances, electronics (phones, tablets, laptops, smoke detectors, thermostats), digital media, vaping devices, and ink & toner cartridges. It only takes a two person team an hour or two each week to staff a station and we can make many residents happy.

  • The City doesn’t listen when they hold “hearings”. We can take the temperature of the residents on the issues that are important to us. “Sticker stations” at Patio Chats are a great way to meet our neighbours.

  • There are other Fun Activities in your Community we can do without involving the City. Many people now want to get involved in real life, not just participate on anti-social media!
